Day 2 was "hands-on" day. Jill, Alyson, and Lisa showed us some songs, then we split into smaller groups after lunch to choose our own songs, interpret them, and rehearse (for a whole hour!) before performing for the class.  Everyone got strong applause!

To get things started, Jill interpreted Britney Spears' song, "Oops, I Did It Again" (which ends with the line, "I'm not that innocent").

For a country song, Alyson interpreted "Hello, Mr. Heartache" by the Dixie Chicks.

As a group, we listened to songs like "Baby, One More Time", "Wide Open Spaces", and "Finally", and applied what we'd learned so far, using the lyrics provided by Lisa, Alyson, and Jill.  Then it was time for lunch and a group picture, to get us ready for our own mini-performances.

Although patriotic music had not been on the agenda, many people wanted it included in light of the attacks on America earlier this month.  These two interpreters were a good team on "God Bless the USA".

Jill and Lisa showed us how duets can be especially moving in sign language, performing "Does He Love You?" by Reba McEntire and Linda Davis.

And, for an unscheduled finishing flourish (and because we insisted, once we found out she had it with her on a CD), Jill performed the Dixie Chicks' "Goodbye, Earl".

In addition to being educational,
it was a tremendously entertaining workshop,
and we thank our three presenters,
as well as everyone who attended!

Keep watching our website for announcements of
workshops in 2002!
