Join us on Tuesday, February 21st from 4:30 - 5:30 PM for an NTRID Business Meeting.  We will meet at Bridges - 415 4th Avenue South, to talk about upcoming events and important information.

  • Yourself
  • A picture (This can be anything, such as a personal picture or a cut out from a magazine.)
  • If you have a poem, short story, and/or children's story and want to bring that to work on please feel free.  We will use this as one of the hands on activities.

Eric Workman presented a free mini workshop called
"'Should I Be Doing This?'
Ethical Dilemmas in Sign Language Interpreting". 


We met at Bridges -

On Tuesday, October 18th from 4:30 - 5:30 PM we were excited to have Jackie Beasley presenting a mini workshop called 
"Mental Health Intake".


 
Jackie led us through a mental health intake, discussing
the best ways to sign phrases and 
terms specific to the mental health setting.

"Where Am I?  Regional Signs"

Liz Robertson presented a one hour mini workshop 
focusing on increasing our vocabulary of regional 
signs from around the country.

"In the World of VR"
August 16th from 4:30 - 5:30 
Bridges in Nashville - 415 4th Avenue South

 Lindsey Goins presented specialized vocabulary and acronyms, and helped us prepare for challenges unique to this setting!

                   We met in the Peabody Room at Bridges, 
the room on the side of the building facing Peabody Street.

We had a wonderful time at our spring workshop - winkend! 

Wink Presented two Workshops:
"Idioms! 'Do You see what I'm saying?'"
and "make the english tangible in asl"

we also enjoyed his asl performance -
"my father's Gift"

In March and April, 2011, 
we enjoyed a two-part mini workshop called 
"Preparing for Performing Arts Assignments", 
presented by Scott Baker. 



Scott gave us a run through of helpful specialed vocabulary for the theater world, as well as hands-up practice of songs and scenes from plays.

In February, 2011, we had an NTRID Social 
at The Rutledge.  We had light appetizers, 
and set up an opportunity for the members to 
meet and greet the new 2011/2012 Board.  
 



We had a great group of interpreting students, new interpreters, and seasoned interpreters.

In January, 2011, we had a special treat.  Joseph Ochoa, our resident Deaf culture expert, presented a workshop called "Deaf Culture and Awareness".  We had a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Deaf culture from the perspective of an empowered Deaf adult!
