ABOUT US:

NTRID is an affiliate of the state organization, the Tennessee Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, and the national organization, the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. The Nashville Tennessee Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (NTRID) is a not-for-profit organization for deaf and hearing consumers, interpreters, students, and supporters in the Nashville area.

NTRID'S MISSION:

The principle purposes of this organization are to initiate, sponsor, promote and execute policies and activities that will further the profession of interpretation of American Sign Language and English and the transliteration of English in all modes.

 

NTRID'S OBJECTIVES: 

  • To provide for the effective use of interpreters and transliterators for the mutual benefit of deaf and hearing individuals.
  • To prepare, maintain, and distribute a registry of RID recognized certified interpreters for the deaf in the Nashville, TN area
  • To recruit and encourage potential interpreters for the D/deaf and hard of hearing.
  • To encourage professionalism and ethical standards for interpreters.
  • To conduct workshops for the purpose of exchanging ideas, opinions, knowledge and current research concerning the interpreting field and D/deaf and hard of hearing communities.
  • To work in close cooperation with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc., and other organizations operating to promote improvement of the quality of interpreting services that serve people who are D/deaf and hard of hearing in various circumstances.
  • To promote awareness among people who are D/deaf and the general public of the need for, availability of, and the nature of interpreting services.
